2005 Cadillac CTS
For 2005, CTS debuts a new entry-level model with a new 2.8L engine that makes 210 horsepower (156 kw) and 195 lb.-ft. of torque (265 Nm). The 2.8L V-6 VVT is a modified version of the 3.6L VVT CTS engine. Braking and suspension capabilities remain the same. The new model is intended to widen the CTS and Cadillac demographic base to include younger buyers. Production begins in October 2004. Both engines can be mated to a new six-speed manual transmission, and the 2.8L also is available with the five-speed automatic transmission.

2005 Cadillac Escalade
For 2005, subtle changes improve the vehicle. The primary change is a new, premium instrument cluster with bright chrome rings around gauges and more detailed graphics. In addition, new burled walnut trim replaces traditional Zebrano trim. The AWD Escalade now has optional 20-inch chrome wheels. All models receive a bright chrome exhaust tip. The navigation system now uses a touch screen rather than a joystick, and the screen size increases from 5.8 inches (142 mm) to 6.5 inches (165 mm) for easier use. Riptide, a teal blue metallic hue, debuts as a new exterior color.
